Energy Technology In preparation

Hydrogen Technology for Skilled Workers

Hydrogen is arriving in industry, energy supply and the gas grid. Anyone working on such installations needs to know about the technology and the particular hazards of the gas. This course teaches you the fundamentals.

An instructor explains something on a tablet to two apprentices, next to a practice wall with stainless steel pipes and a gas detector.AI
For
Plant, electrical and energy engineering
Topics
Electrolysis, explosion protection, DVGW G 260

Who the course is for

For skilled workers with completed vocational training in plant mechanics, electrical, energy, instrumentation and control or process engineering who are moving into hydrogen projects. We assume a basic technical knowledge.

What you will learn

Fundamentals: properties of hydrogen, production by electrolysis, storage, transport and use, right through to the fuel cell.

Safety: hydrogen is odourless, burns with a barely visible flame and is explosive across a wide range of concentrations. You will learn about explosion protection and Ex zones, leak tightness, gas detection technology and what to do in the event of an incident.

Materials: choice of materials, hydrogen embrittlement, seals and joining technology.

Regulations: the Industrial Safety Regulation (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung), the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (Gefahrstoffverordnung) and the DVGW rules, in which hydrogen is listed as a gas family in its own right.

Good to know

The course teaches the fundamentals. It does not replace a safety briefing in your company, nor any qualification or certificate of competence under the Industrial Safety Regulation (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung) or the DVGW rules.

FAQs

What prior knowledge do I need?

Completed technical vocational training, for example in plant mechanics, electrical or process engineering. During your consultation we will clarify whether the course is right for you.

Will I receive a DVGW certificate of competence?

No. Formal certificates of competence are provided by the courses designed for that purpose. Our course prepares you technically for working with hydrogen.

When does the course start?
